What's funny is there is nothing illegal about any part of my exhaust. Cat? Present. Muffler? Present. Leaks? Nope.

There we go. That's all it needs. It doesn't even have to be a quiet muffler, it just has to have "an attached and functioning muffler"

Nope. Absolutely nothing about noise levels from what I can find. I searched extensively (well, as extensively is as possible with these terribad government websites) to make sure glasspacking the Buick was legal before I did it.

we have exactly 2 cops in the state that are licensed inspection techs, and they spend most their time going after the big rigs on the highway. I got pulled over for having a BRAND NEW OEM exhaust on my vanagon because it was "too loud". I laughed and asked if she was an inspection tech and she said no. Gave me a ticket, wasted my time. Got to court and beat it handily

I know she pulled me over because I was driving a VW bus but still

Oddly enough I've never been pulled over for anything that wasn't a light/exhaust, and never been ticketed. So yay :D
